2.0 out of 5 stars Does not record in MP3 format, December 24, 2008
By
This review is from: Grundig G4 AM/FM/SW Portable Radio with MP3 and SD Player (Discontinued by Manufacturer) (Electronics)
I was hoping that it would record radio programs, especially FM Stereo, to MP3 format. It does NOT. This is especially disappointing since it has a very sensitive and selective FM receiver as well as AM medium wave and shortwave reception nearly at the level of the Kaito 1103 in a smaller package. It only records radio to WAV format, lo-fi mono. You can do that with the StorTrek iBeat Extension for $25.00, which has even better FM reception. Equally disappointing was the Degen 1123, in the same problem area, i.e. not recording to MP3 but only to lo-fi WAV voice recording quality. I have gone back to shortwave listening on other radios and leaving the recording of FM stereo to MP3 format to the C.Crane Witness, a great way to record FM Stereo to MP3. Live, spend, and learn. Read the fine print.
