This review is from: 111 Rock 'n' Roll Superhits (The Ultimate Compilation)
I was a teenager in the 1950s, so rock 'n' roll was the music I grew up with. The early 1950s through the mid-1960s was the era of classic rock 'n' roll, and that's what this compilation covers. When I saw a mention of the album on an online forum, with the amazingly low price, I assumed that it had a bunch of flip-side songs or songs by no-name artists, but that wasn't the case. This is primo rock, with many of the greatest hits of the era.
The superstars of rock in that era - performers like the Everly Brothers, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Elvis, Brenda Lee, The Shirelles, Dion, Frankie Avalon, Little Richard, Bobby Vinton, Bill Haley, and others are well represented with some of their biggest hits. There's definitely something for everyone. There are only a few songs and artists that I wasn't familiar with. There are a lot of big stars who aren't included on the album, but maybe a second Superhits album will include them.
Chilling out with this album brought back a lot of memories.
