Fifteen Years of Wal-Mart Specials Makes These Feel Like I Am Walking On Air!,
This review is from: ASICS Men's Gel Kayano 20 Running Shoe (Shoes)
Over the past 15 years, I have purchased all my shoes at Wal-Mart for $12. With two exceptions. I have a very expensive pair of winter boots, and a very expensive pair of dress boots. I could justify those in my mind, because they had a specific purpose.
I could not however justify paying more than $12 on regular shoes, because it did not make any sense to me. A $12 pair of shoes lasts about six months, and then I replace them with another pair of shoes that costs less than my lunch. I took pleasure in making fun of people who spent more... the fools!
Then I took up speed walking. I have ridden a bike for years, but I had not taken up running, because I value my knees, joints, and back. However, my wife wanted a treadmill, and after purchasing it, I found that I enjoy walking on it. I have steadily worked my speed up, and am now walking at around 5 mph.
As my speed has increased, so has the tenderness, and purple color of my feet / toes.
If I was going to continue to walk, and increase my speed, I had to get better shoes.
I purchased these tonight, and just finished my first workout in them. I am blown away by how... heavenly they are. Like walking on clouds.
Keep in mind that I have no experience with any other shoes. My review is therefor the equivalent of someone who only eats at McDonalds, writing a review of their first Steak. Are other steaks better? I have no idea. All I can say is that these are great, compared to the food (shoes) I had been consuming.
My feet are not tender, or sore at all.
I take back everything I ever said about people who spend too much money on athletic shoes.

Yup, I'm just now getting back into running after years of, frankly, working too much, and I've always said that if you aren't running in your bare feet you'd be insane to not buy the best shoes you can get your hands on. Shoes aren't natural, they modify your gait no matter what you buy, so buying a pair with support and cushion in places that support the natural action of the human foot is paramount. You only get 2, and you need both to move around, pamper em!
