This review is from: Casio Men's PRG-270-4CR "Pro Trek" Digital Sport Watch (Watch)
Through years I have owned several models of Pathfinder and Protrek watches. The basic functions of this watch are no different than any of the many models which came before this one. This is the basic model of Protrek watch which houses the third generation sensor module with improvement in accuracy and seize, improving overall measurement performance and overall weight of the watch.
This particular model the PRG 270-4CR is very light on the wrist and sometimes you feel like your not wearing a watch. The weight difference is significant. I can tell the difference between this model and the PAG 240-1K or even the PAW 1500-1VR. The overall operation and functionality of this watch does not differ from previous models of Pathfinder or Protrek watches. Therefore, if You've owned any of the previous models, you shouldn't have to deal with a big learning curve as the basic functions have not change at all.
The one thing this watch has is BAD display visibility. It is horrible you literally have to be outside in a real sunny day or well lit room to see the display, let alone any of the readouts this watch is capable of giving you. My advice by a different model of the PRG 270. There is at least 4variations of the 270 which are positive display models:
1) PRG 270-1
2) PRG 270B-2JF ( Blue Japanese Import Model with a Nato Strap for a band)
3) PRG 270B-3JF (Olive Drab Japanese Import Model with a Nato Strap for a band)
4) PRG 270D-&JF (Silver Japanese Import Model with a Titanium Metal Band)
I gave it the two star rating because the way I see it, this watch is a piece of equipment. Especially if you like to be in nature you need a watch that will be a tool which could help you survive if need be. If you can't read the display of it, then is pretty useless in my book. I returned mine for a refund. Will order the Olive Drab version of it.
