3.0 out of 5 stars Alexander saves this season!, April 14, 2012
By
This review is from: True Blood: Season 4 (DVD)
*Spoilers Below*

As a die-hard True Blood fan, I was so disappointed with season 4. It started out great and full of promise (minus the screechy, scowling Alan Ball version of Sookie) There were so many places these writers could have gone, especially since it was based off of book 4. First, the Hotshot story-line was nuked to hell. Killing Calvin in season 3 was bad enough, but the way those people were portrayed was a disaster. Second, Bill faced no consequences for his revealed actions in season 3. And no, breaking up with this Sookie is not a consequence, it's a blessing.
The second half of the season took such a sharp downturn in quality. Far too many dream sequences, particularly a stomach churning dream with Sookie/Eric/Bill that seemed to only be another attempt to white-wash Bill and get people taking about Anna Paquin in a red nighty. And the quick "More You Know" wrap up with Marnie was laughable.
However, Alexander Skarsgard's portrayal of Amnesia Eric was wonderful. This actor is what keeps me coming back for more. He has chemistry with every actor and makes me feel for his "bad boy" character in every scene. And he will be the only reason I may tune in for Season 5.

I agree on two points, at least. They HBO writers have gone so far from the books that it is hard to recognize the story line and Alexander does save the season! Also, Bill has turned into a recognizable turd in this season. The fairy stuff was lame!!! The further "out" the writers go, the less I like it. I LOVE the books, however and can't wait to find out if Sookie smartens up and saves Eric from being married to the Queen of OK and being a vampire with the Fairy Wish.....He, I believe, tries to get Sookie to a mentally safe place in her life, but she just keeps fighting it.
