Perfect prosumer camcorder.,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Canon XA10 Professional Camcorder with 64GB Internal Flash Memory and Full Manual Control (Camera)
I recently purchased this to replace my AG-DVX 100B because I wanted something smaller and HD. This camera is compact and has all of the professional features I would ever need, including XLR inputs and a native 24p shooting mode. I could not be happier with this product, and I highly recommend Wasabi Power Battery for Canon XA10 (3000mAh) A great inexpensive battery which will get you over 360 minutes of battery life as opposed to the 90some on the included battery.

Whats the difference between this camera and the Canon VIXIA HF G10?
besides the microphone thing on top and internal memory, what else?

The handle is the biggest difference. It has XLR inputs for professional microphones, this, and the 64gb internal memory was the selling point for me. Also included on the handle is an infrared lamp, which functions with the night-vision mode. If these things are not important to you, the G10 is probably a better buy.

Andrew, do you think the near $1000 price difference between the XA10 and the G10 is warranted? Or is the handle with the XLR inputs way over priced for what you get? Are there any microphone inputs on the camera body or would I be stuck with the stock microphone if I opted to not get the handled version? Thanks.
