It Is Dangerous To Be Right When The Government Is Wrong,
This review is from: It Is Dangerous to Be Right When the Government Is Wrong: The Case for Personal Freedom (Hardcover)
This weekend I read "It Is Dangerous to Be Right When the Government is Wrong" (2011, ISBN 9781595553508). In this book Judge Andrew Napolitano (Superior Court Judge in New Jersey) shares his opinion of what is wrong in America and the freedoms we have lost. He shares in detail with cases to back up each of the freedoms taken away by the government. This book is clear on detail and an interesting read.
When I picked up this book I could not put it down fast enough. The author's note and introduction are a little dry and read like a textbook. But once you hit the first chapter the material gets interesting, Judge Napolitano cites thirteen rights and the legal cases where the government has taken them away from us. I did enjoy reading this book even though I personally feel Judge Napolitano leans a little too far to the left on some of the issues he cites. Every right he lists, he has cites cases and the background information on these cases clearly and concisely. I would recommend this book for anyone who cares about their liberty and their country. This book is a wakeup call for all.

Charles S. Mitchell says:
Darkwing- I would like to correct you on one of your statements pertaining to the Judge. The Judge always sides with individual rights above Government power and sometimes above sacrificing safety for liberty. Some Conservatives think that some of the positions he takes are left wing positions. They are not. They are radical right wing positions. I proper understanding of what it means to be left wing or right wing is in order. It makes it confusing when the left wing of economic issues takes a right wing opinion on personal liberty to the point that most conservatives take a left wing position on personal liberty many times confused and under the impression that their position is conservative when it is not. Judge believes you cannot separate economic liberty from personal liberty, and because of that the position of supporting liberty in all cases is a radical right wing position. For instance a radical left wing position would oppose drug legalization and free markets. A radical right position would support both drug legalization and free markets. The fake right wing vs. left wing debate perpetrated by the media confuses those paradigms and confuses Conservatives into supporting anti-liberty positions and in favor of big government on social issues.
