An excellent razor - my favorite to date,

[EDIT - August 2014] Like many other owners of this razor, I've been distressed at the unavailability of the replacement heads - the RQ12 has been discontinued by Norelco/Philips and until today, nobody has reported finding a replacement. Well, today I spoke to a very helpful Thomas on their support line (the phone number on the razor) and he promised me that sometime this month they would make available the RQ12+, the replacement for the RQ12. This is good news for two reasons: (1) we will be able to buy a replacement head at last - yay, and (2) this replacement head has replaceable blades, so we won't need to replace it ever again - we'll just have to replace the blades in it when they wear out. This is a great improvement over replacing the entire head, something I always thought was unnecessary anyway.
[second edit] - looks like Amazon has this item - Philips Norelco RQ12/62 Replacement Head for Series 8000 and Arcitec
So, big shout-out to Philips-Norelco for doing the right thing - and if you're one of the hundreds of people looking for an RQ12 replacement head, just wait a few days for the new RQ12+.
I've been using electric razors for a few decades now, and this is my favorite. I've been using Norelco/Philips razors (the triple head style) most of that time because I like them better than the reciprocating foil razors I used before (eg, Braun, etc).
This razor is extremely quiet, comfortable, easy to use, and the charge lasts for ever - for any trip under a month I just make sure I charge it overnight before I leave and I don't travel with the charger - never had a problem with running out of charge. Waterproof, so clean up is with hot water - no fussing with blowing and brushing out, just rinse under the tap.
The only caution is economic - the replacement head is over $50, and you need a new one every year. That's even more than the already expensive replacement heads for the cheaper models (eg, HQ4 at $27) - probably because you replace the whole head, not just the three spinning cutter assemblies. On the up side, that means you get a whole new head. So, be ready for that cost in 12 months time.
Otherwise, an all-round excellent razor.
