This review is from: ITW BRANDS 40066 .22 Caliber Trigger Shot Tool (Tools & Home Improvement)
Bought this so I could add a room onto the house. Looked at different models and brands, prices seem to be all over. I had used a "hammer style" one about ten years ago amd was hoping this would be a little easier which it was.
Basically, rather than need to hammer onto the top to get it to fire, you pull the trigger, and that's where my complaint is- it was a little touchy. I'm sure it's made artificially difficult for safety reasons (someone would look down the barrell and shoot themselves). To get it to work, which took me a few tries and misfires, 1) you put your weight down on it to preload, 2) then pull the trigger. Pulling prematurely, or not having enough pressure on the gun to engage the trigger will not fire it, or even causes a few jam type situations.
Once you get the pattern/rhythm this works well and is a solid piece of equipment. Feels well built, and looks better than some of the others ive seen. If you have the extra 30 bucks in your budget buy this style, a trigger, versus a hammer style gun. I dont see the need to spend more than $50-60 on this tool unless your a contractor. This one did a pretty food job of driving the nail...getting about an inch to 1.5 inches deep.
