I was surprised to find out that you must register with Samsung, agree to allow access to your images, in order to use the camera.

I have 4 of these cameras connected to Blue Iris and never needed to agree to allow Samsung to have access to the images. If you use their service to host/monitor, you'll need to agree to the terms of course. But, if you just want to connect it to other monitoring software, you won't need to agree to those terms.

You can use Dropcam. Their cameras are more expensive but the service and quality are far worth the expense of the camera. As for privacy, no one else can access your cameras. Even their employees are not allowed to access your feed without your expressed permission. They have their own mobile app available for live feed so you don't have to go through another site. You can also record clips of any time frame if you want to keep it and you can go back and review for up to 30 days. You can set trigger zones for alerts or make it general for any motion or noise. Two way speakers and you have the option of turning the camera light off if you are wanting to be discreet with it's placement. I have used it for several years now and have never had an issue. They work from any area of my home, even the detached garage. Hope this helps.

Karen, you shouldn't be encouraging him keeping video eye on his wife.

Dropcam is a good product but potential customers should be aware that their cameras like the Samsung also do not have an SD card slot for video storage. Additionally, Dropcam's video storage is limited to only their service plan which does charge a monthly fee.
