Fantastic All Purpose Watch with Style,
This review is from: Casio Men's PRW-3000-1ACR "Protrek" Sport Watch (Watch)
Bought it in Japan when it first came out. There was no reviews at the time, but design and function caught my eye and I gave it a shot. Exceeded my expectations in many ways. There are a few multi-function watches in my collection, and I usually look at Citizen eco-drive's for everyday watch. Last Casio lasted me 15 years to include 5 years of military/deployment abuse, then I sold it for 50% of what I paid for originally earlier this year. So far, over last 6 months, I got to test this watch snorkeling in the tropics, various gym activities, snowboarding in Canada, sauna's, whirlpool tub basically a range of conditions. Already put this watch through hell and it barely looks like it. Design and materials used is carefully thought out. It didn't freeze my hand in the mountains, didn't burn my wrist in sauna. Few times I was sure glass will be scratched - not a mark. Sensors are not precise accuracy and you have to play with it to get close to accurate readings. You can expect readings to be in the ball-park, but not exact and that is enough for me. Alarms are loud, light is bright enough to easily read the time. Buttons are easy to find and press with textured surfaces on the tips. Solar charging is good, and watch is very very light. Looks good in business suit, casual or sports wear.
There is one thing I don't like: world time function. There are timezones I don't care about, and I cannot turn them off. This makes toggling to find the timezone I need longer. Then, once I find the correct timezone, there is no way to lock it in unless you change your "home timezone" (used for radio signal). One time I nearly missed my flight because I inadvertently hit up/down button which moved time on display to next/prev timezone. As you imagine, I planned my airport departure time based on what watch was displaying. Its a small thing, just means I need to be more careful to look at the timezone when looking at the time.
Bottom line - watch is a must in any mans wardrobe.
