Yes, you can just drag them onto your file bin in iMovie -- or you can use the import function on iMovie. If you plug your Flip into your Mac, you should see a hard drive icon on your desktop called Flipvideo. Double click on it and you will see a folder called DCIM; open that and there is another folder called 100Video. All of the video clips you've recorded are saved in that folder as .avi files. You can either drag or import those into an iMovie project and edit them there.

also, what operating system are you using? Will it work in the new imovie? I'm using imovie HD right now but I may in the future get leopard.

Yes, I have tried this. The movie you see here was made in just this way, using iMovie HD and my Flip Video Ultra (some of the footage is of me from my Mac's webcam, i.e. all the pictures that show the Flip in them, but most of them are done using the Flip). I'm using 10.4.11. I don't know if it'll work in Leopard but don't see why it wouldn't. If you have DivX installed (and it is installable directly from the flip video) then Quicktime should be able to read these files and if Quicktime can read them, then iMovie can, since it's Quicktime based.

Hi Nathan - I have a new MacBook with Leopard and just got a Flip Ultra tonight. When I click on the videos to import into iMovie, they are greyed out, not able to click on them. I can watch them fine when saved to the harddrive. Any thoughts? I'm getting too frustrated... Thanks!

Since I have an older MacBook I don't have the experience to help you directly -- but somebody else posted a comment on a different discussion that looked like it had resolved this problem for others. "Truthinsister" posted:
Check into this software for the Mac. It cures a multitude of sins, and irons out proprietary video formats that work on WIN but seize up on a Mac. Make your life easier. BTW, always try opening iMovie and importing from within iMovie rather than dragging and dropping. That allows the progam to do the conversions for you properly. http://www.techspansion.com/visualhub/

This is an old version of iMovie. Anyone with a new Mac or new copy of Leopard will find this camera very disappointing when used with a Mac. iMovie 08 cannot import Flip video any longer.

Hi! Thanks for your post. I don't think there's any way to open flip video in iMovie or iDVD
I have a brand new MacBook Pro & can't get it to work except through QuickTime (which I don't really like)... I'll try to keep playing with it & I'll try the link you put (techspansion.com) thank you for your assistance!
