Not past date batteries!,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: 9 Volt Duracell Alkaline Batteries Coppertop 4 Pack MN1604 (Health and Beauty)
The bottom of each battery is stamped 2011/07,I originally thought that was the expiration date. However, the batteries also say Mar 2015, so these are actually a good deal.

That's the manufacturing date. Expiration date is on the side of the battery, and would read something like "JUL 2015."

But they're supposed to be good for 10 years — the date printed on the batteries you purchased in April 2012 should have been dated at least April 2022. You did not get a good deal — you received old, nearly expired batteries.
