This review is from: The Art of SEO (Theory in Practice) (Kindle Edition)
This book is clearly written by authorities on the topic, and they go into great details about the subject they clearly know well. However, it was not written for anyone who isn't a specialized marketer. I was given a review copy of this book by O'Reilly, and what I hoped to achieve was a deeper understanding of SEO as it is practiced. I gained that, but only because I was not completely new to the subject. Someone who was a first time entrepreneur trying to grasp SEO while wearing many hats (something that happens all the time for startups) would be completely lost here. A lot of terms are not operationally defined, and a lot of the book seemed to address someone who already had a working knowledge of SEO already.
In short - this is a good resource for someone already familiar with SEO or working in the field. It's also a book that you may want to skip chapters and evaluate only the sections of interest. It's not a book for someone new to the subject or evaluating ways to optimize their site when they aren't in the position to be able to hire someone to take it on full time. I'd recommend the book, but only to the targeted audience. While the book says it is targeted to "anyone involved at SEO at any level," I'm not sure that's really the case.
