Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Twilight Zone: The Complete Definitive Collection (DVD)
I am a real fan of Rod Serling's Twilight Zone. I bought the 42 VHS collection of Twilight Zone via Columbia House Canada and paid nearly $1500.00 for the entire collection more than ten years ago. What a deal to obtain the DVD collection with all the extras for a fraction of what I paid for the VHS. The quality is excellent. One little note: there is no close caption for the season one but no problem for seasons 2,3,4,5. Thank you Amazon. I live in Québec canada and it took only five days to receive the collection by regular mail.

Thank you for mentioning the 42 VHS cassettes! I too was buying those through Columbia House. They stopped sending them to me after 30 though, about the time that my credit card got closed on me. They never bothered contacting me to see if I had another credit card or wanted to stop/continue getting them. I have to this day, almost 20 years later thought I had them all. Now I see that I don't. Not that I wasn't going to get them on dvd anyway, but now I know.

Thanks for letting me know that first season isn't closed captioned. I had my suspicions on that one, but I can remedy that. Thanks for the invaluable info.

What the heck, why don't they catch up with the rest of the world and put this on VHS!

How do you remedy no closed captioning on the first season?

Complain to Image Entertainment about false manufacturing, and pray they listen to you. However being the Season 1 set has been out for half a decade, you may not succeed

does anybody know why Season 1 has no captions ?
Is it possible to remedy this situation as someone has suggested on this discussion ?

I bought the first season of the Twilight Zone show on DVD and was very disappointed it did not have the closed captions like I wanted. I'm hearing impaired (45% loss in both ears). I had assumed that every DVD produced now would be closed captions. I was happy to know that Seasons 2-5 has closed captions. Why wasn't the lack of closed captions on the first season fixed for the entire collection box set? Also, it would have been terrific to keep the Twilight Zone companion book. Anyway, I don't owe the first season DVD anymore. I sold it shortly after I bought it. Now I am debating whether or not to go ahead and buy the entire Twilight Zone box set?? Thanks for your info about this matter.
