All That Glitters...,
This review is from: The Hobbit (Hardcover)
The publishers have really let readers down with this 70th Anniversary Edition. While the binding is excellent, and rare color illustrations by the author have been included, the book is poorly printed on cheap paper, the black & white illustrations are appalingly reproduced (seemingly on a cheap scanner), and the first chapter of 'Fellowship of the Ring' has been crammed (in small type) into the back of the book, like the sequel to some crummy D&D novel.
Bitter disappointment. The old hardcover edition, while not very well bound, was much nicer, printed on crisp white paper with the original b&w illustrations very well reproduced.
When will publishers learn...?
