Book is good..but expensive!,

This review is from: Total GMAT Verbal (Paperback)I purchased this book because of the reviews on the various GMAT forums such as Beat the GMAT and GMAT club. I cannot say that I am blown away with the material. It's a very decent effort to be honest, and the problems are actually of very good quality. There are a few difficult problems scattered in there as well.
But why do I rate the book with only 3 stars? -- The main reason is the cost of this book! At 46 dollars -- it is one of the most expensive Verbal books in the market. It is almost as expensive as all the four Manhattan verbal books combined! But with Manhattan one has access to its 6 full length CATs and question Banks. But with the verbal challenge -- you don't get any additional practice problems or CATs.
I was a bit disappointed with the SC section -- it's not very exhaustive and barely touches on a few topics. If one wants to get a good handle on grammar fundamentals and learn the correct rules then I would strongly suggest The Manhattan SC book, which is very detailed and exhaustive.
The CR section was a bit better -- but nowhere close to either the Powerscore CR book (By David Killoran) or the Manhattan CR book.
The RC section was actually the best of the three.
Overall - It's certainly worth spending the TIME to study the material in the book. But am I not entirely convinced that the book is worth the MONEY. I understand the "high" price tag -- likely because the author is not writing for a big test prep company but instead is publishing on his own.
This book would be fantastic value for money if it were priced at around 20-25 dollars.
PS: This is an amazon verified purchase, as are the Manhattan SC, Powerscore CR and Manhattan CR books discussed in this review.
