These Sony MDRXB600 headphones sound very, very good. If you like having a tight lower Bass with a good middle and high range as well, these headphones will do the trick. I tested these out with some Blu-ray movies on my laptop which is a Dolby Surround Theater certified Acer Aspire Timeline X 4830TG and they offered a very amazing surround sound experience! I like the build quality of these headphones too. They have a very classy fit and finish and seem to be made from nice and sturdy materials. The headphone cord is a flat-style cord which I would assume should reduce entanglement issues. Overall, there is not much to complain about at all. These headphones should please those audiophiles out there that have a craving for heavy Bass that is tight with low distortion while preserving most of the high and middle end frequencies. However, I think that because these are indeed made to accentuate the lower end Bass... they do sacrifice a little bit of clarity and crispness of the mids and highs. This was true when I compared these to my favorite SONY MDR-V6's. Although the MDR-V6 doesn't offer the earthy weight of a heavier bass line of these MDRB600's, the sound was much more airy and open sounding (which I like more). The mid and high frequencies were more crisp, and pronounced on my MDR-V6 as well. This isn't to say that the MDR-V6 is better... it's just that I like the way they sound better. But if you are buying these specifically because you crave the low end of the spectrum, this really shouldn't be an issue for you, and I'm sure you will really enjoy these immensely. However, if you want a more balanced, airy, and natural sounding pair of headphones... I'd recommend the legendary MDR-V6 over these.

In my opinion, audiophile and Extra-Bass are not meant to be used together in the same sentence, apart than to show a dislike...
