self indulgent and not a true crime book at all,

I was sorely disappointed by this book. I had followed the Rockefeller case closely and had loved the other book on his case, so I was delighted to hear that there was a new book about his case and by someone who had known him personally. I expected an in-depth loom at the criminal; instead it was a self-indulgent slog through the writer's own personal ordeals. If you want to read a gripping true crime book by someone who knew a criminal personally, I recommend Anne Rule's a The Stranger Beside Me, about her friendship with Ted Bundy. This was a waste of money and time.
