Such a disappointment,
This review is from: Grand Theft Auto IV (Video Game)
This is quite possibly the most incompetently programmed major PC port in the history of console-pc ports. Something very toxic happened within Rockstar in the process of creating this and the end product is simply vile.
It also smacks of excessive manipulation from whatever passes for the strategic marketing department...We are not only stuck with SecurRom downgrading our computers in real time but are forced to run both Windows Live and Rockstar Social Club at the same time just to play the game offline...that's wickedly stupid Rockstar.
But the real problem is the abhorrent PC optimization. To put it bluntly, even on a high spec system it looks like a 5 year old game and runs like a fat pig. And if you don't happen to have a 2 gigs video memory per GPU then the game looks and runs even worse. Oh...and that SLI rig you poured your love sweat and tears into? Not supported...one GPU for you!
Come on Rockstar...you're better than this. I've been a tremendous fan since the first top down 2D Grand Theft Auto back in the stone age. But by the time I finally finished installing the game, installing Windows Live, installing social club, waiting for live to update, then social club to update, then registering for both services against my will until 45 minutes later I finally got a chance to play and found myself looking at the ugliest A-List PC game of the year...well I sort of hate you now.
After reading Rockstar's amazingly arrogant response to the turd-pie they created, I'm fairly certain that I will never buy another Rockstar product as long as I live. The PC port is that bad.
Come on Rockstar...admit you screwed up...do right by your loyal customers. Win us back.
Or just go away.
