A solid effort with emphasis on melody and lyrics,
This review is from: Head Over Heels (Audio CD)
The steady rhythms of "Something to Say" kick off the album. Vocalist Anja Schimer has a sultry tone that fits the music like a glove. Driving guitar riffs jump start "Leave," but the music and vocals take an emotional turns as Anja laments about her relationship falling apart. It's not all heartache and sadness for Anja, she picks up the pieces and moves forward on "Ready to Go." "Cries" reaches the pinnacle for tear-jerking ballads. "Changed" picks the pace back up again. The chorus of "Something in the Way" is accented by great backing vocals by the male members of the group. There are some sweet guitar licks here too.
Cornerstone delivers a solid effort with emphasis on melody and lyrics. Head Over Heels is really one big break-up album from beginning to end. Haven't we all been there once or twice?
