This review is from: Burma: Rivers of Flavor (Hardcover)From a Burmese native, this book is spot on and Naomi capture Burmese cuisine perfectly. I only wish there were more photos of the finished products of each recipe.

Oh my gosh, you lived there? This is an exciting event. We don't often find these books. I only knew about it because our local newspaper did a several page spread on the author. It included information on the long period over which her travels occurred, observation and immersion within the culture and how a few rewrites had to take place because of the changes that were occurring in Myanmar. The recipes and pictures in the article looked really good. The article was to announce her three appearances around Northern California but not in our city. I think a book like this will generate some interest in tourist travel. It is beautiful. So respectful to the people there too. The first thing I am going to do is make the fried shallots and shallot oil. I have never done a good job on long beans but I'm going to make her long bean salad with roasted peanuts using fresh items from the local farmers' market. Then I am going to just go crazy with her wonderful recipes. I liked your review. That was pretty neat. So far her reviews are 5 stars - that is great!
