This review is from: Call to Arms (Audio CD)
Here's the deal: 2003 We got "Killing Ground" 2004 "Lionheart" 2007 "Inner Sanctum" 2009 "Into The Labyrinth" These 4 CDs produced some of the BEST music the band has ever recorded. The production on all 4 was in your face and the band was just BRUTAL in spots! Now we get "Call To Arms" and it is a major let down. The songs..BY SAXON STANDARDS...are very "poppy". It's all about sing along chorus's on this one. The production is SEVERELY lacking. The guitars are very "warm" sounding. They should be ripping your face off...but they don't. And as unbelievable as this is to say...Biffs vocals are mixed wayy too loud on the recordings. There is not a single song that stands out as a possible future "classic". I really don't know what changed on this CD, but I would bet the farm it's the producer / engineer / mixer or something new in the songwriting team. This is not a BAD Cd......but it SUCKS compared to the last 4.
