Customer Review

1.0 out of 5 stars Caveat emptor..., April 16, 2010
This review is from: Toshiba Qosmio X305-Q705 17-Inch Widescreen Laptop (Personal Computers)
...which means: BUYER BEWARE. I purchased an earlier model Qosmio and after that experience will no longer buy any computer manufactured by Toshiba. The heavy, expensive laptop loaded with desirable features, had defective component(s) which caused the screen to fail when just out of the one-year warranty. I have learned that many other buyers had this same experience, and that Toshiba consistently refused to replace the defective component as they should have, regardless of warranty expiration. I now have an expensive boat anchor and can't even access my files to delete them. If Toshiba decided to change its reprehensible policy, I would change my mind about them and so note in this review. But 'til then, my money will be spent elsewhere.

I was about to buy a Qosmio X505-Q885 after reading this review I will not. If others are having similar issues and the product is defective the Manufacturer has to help the customer, that is why they are insured. Playing games with customers is not a good idea in this day and age, they need to do the right thing.

I too bought a Toshiba, it was GREAT!! That is, until... the Hard Drive started CLICKING at me!! I am weary of Toshiba, and if they WONT honor warranties.. a 16" Samsung is fine with me, though i like the look of the screen.

Buy: Sony (? I dont like the raised-key keyboards,) Dell (?,) SAMSUNG, Acer (buying an Acer soon, with Windows 7,) IBM, Lenovo.

AVOID: Toshiba, HP/Compaq (same thing, i had some that were "OK" my favorite was actually a Compaq but now, they too have build issues.)

Thought a Qosimo would be different. My bad unit was a Satellite..

CAVEAT EMPTOR!! BRAND NEW is required now.
