ONE GUIDE TO RULE THEM ALL!,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Collector's Edition: Prima Official Game Guide (Hardcover)
I just got my Skyrim Collector's Guide this morning delivered by ONTRAC. Thanks Amazon! WOW: this guide is HUGE. It comes sealed in plastic and has the Free Access to the Interactive World Map Code inside. This is worth the price alone, imho. The interactive world map is awesome if you truly want to discover everything there is in Skyrim. The guide itself is beautifully illustrated and is a MONSTER of valuable info. This is a must-have purchase for any fan of The Elder Scrolls or serious collector. I will use this guide for playing the game with but I want to get another just for my collection and leave it untouched and displayed. BLOWN AWAY!!!

I suppose im hardcore as well. I pre ordered both the CE editions. game and book. One question i had and amazon couldn't answer this for me. But when you got this book today. Was your release date delivery a little off, or did it specifically state the 11th. mine says its the 15th and i pre ordered it this a while back but yet it already shipped. So im kind of confused on that and im hoping i get it today or a few days later. Oh yeah also, i guess the CE edition of the game does not have the free access to the interactive world map does it? This is something you only get with the collectors guide, em i right?
That is truly the reason i ordered this guide, i would love to see a fully digital detail 3d polygonal map display over the small paper map that comes with the game.

Yes -- I am very hardcore.
@Jeffrey -- Yes, my expected delivery date as a prime member as of yesterday was next week. But I got a shipment notification last night, and it arrived first thing in the morning. Thank You Amazon!! Now I have friends who are not prime members that got shipment notifications also last night but they went USPS standard and definitely will not receive them until next week. Re: the CE of the game -- I think I read somewhere that it does NOT include this free access interactive world map. People were kind of upset about that too, if I remember correctly.
Long Live Skyrim!

I'm a prime member, got my "free" two-day shipping, but still won't be getting my guide until the 14th. Oh well. This'll give me the chance to just experience the realm of skyrim with no help at all. Perhaps, I'll keep the guide sealed until after I complete the primary quest story.

@Mark -- I preordered this a long time ago -- I think when it was first announced. But, I'm like you, and won't be using too much until I get heavily into the game. But, it's sure great to have!!

I can't believe David S Hodgson is writing this guide. That author is a god amongst the industry of writing guides. I have bought alot of books and i have never ever bought a guide that is so well organized and structured. I am so looking forward to this and it should be way better then the oblivion guide. He's the same guy responsible for writing the assassins creed guides, fall out games, and all the hard cover zelda strategy guides. I just know im in good hands here.
We really needed some one like him to write the dragon age guides, but alas it never happened. Those guides lacked so much detail. David Hodgson would never let that happen. He takes every game and strips it down to the core with every possible detail imaginable and he has a thing for illustration in his guides. He always includes very detailed illustrated maps which i love.

I have to be honest I am jealous. I pre-ordered and will get it today, little disappointed, but I did get the game early Friday.

has anyone used the interactive map yet? how is it? i cant find ANY real info about this thing! is it a program or a web based application? Does it show you all types of things including weapon locations and main roads? 3d or 2d? Does it include all the interior areas as well? (the reason why i wanted this guide was just for the interactive map as I don't like the fact that the ingame map doesn't show main roads) I actually found a copy of this guide on overstock (which i was weary of ordering it from them because ive heard terrible things, but the collectors guide was $21.17 plus about $3 for shipping. The interactive map separately is 14.99 on the prima site, so basically its like I got that and bought the guide for 6bux! I couldn't go wrong. and that price was a one-day only sale because I think its closer to $30 now. I just want to know if its worth it? I normally don't get guides, as the internet/youtube is sufficient enough, but this was my most anticipated game ever and i made the exception.
