This is a review of Disc One only,
This review is from: The Bootleg Series, Vols. 1-3 : Rare And Unreleased, 1961-1991 (Audio CD)
I have tried liking this. I do not hate it, but it's kind of ho-hum. Maybe discs two and three are the best since sliced bread, but you can see why most of this wasn't released. IMHO, if you want primo Dylan, get Time Out of Mind, The Biograph Box Set, Volumes 1 & 2 of Greatest Hits, Desire, Nashville Skyline, or Highway 61. These are all way better. The songs don't sound bad, but they just aren't too memorable.

What was the best thing *before* sliced bread?
Seriously, this is very subjective territory, and you're certainly just as entitled to your opinion as others are to theirs. I respect your willingness to enter a negative review in the face of all the adulation this set received.

This isn't necessarily a "negative review", but, Disc one just isn't in my regular rotation. True, that tastes are subjective, but, after all, that's what the review section is for: Real people/consumers expressing real opinions. not like the puppet reviews you see on mainstream media publications. Again, I am well versed in Dylan's music and this wouldn't be the first Dylan platter I'd reach for. Although, I think I owe it to myself to check out discs two and three. Thanks for your feedback!
