Least valuable instrument to Rock Band,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Rock Band 3 Wireless Keyboard for Xbox 360 (Video Game)
First off, I have to say that myself and my friend group love Rock Band just as much as anyone. We have been playing it since Rock Band 1 and we host Rock Band parties once a month or so. We have Rock Band 3 with all of the Rock Band 1 and 2 games uploaded plus another 50 DLC songs. We have all of the instruments, including the drums with 3 cymbals and two pedals. This keyboard was our last addition.
Pro: The keyboard itself is very well made and just as high quality, if not higher, than the other instruments.
Con: In end, I would guess that less than 25% of the songs that we own support the keyboard. You can use the keyboard as a guitar, but why would you want to do that if you can use a guitar that has a strumming element. Also, its a pain to disconnect the keyboard every time you want to use a guitar instead when the keyboard doesn't have support.
-The other big con is that regular and "pro" modes are both too extreme. Regular mode is wayyy to simple to play (at least for an experienced rock band player). You only use 5 of the keys, like a neutered guitar without a strummer. Pro mode on the other hand is VERY difficult. You use all of the keys, including the back keys, and the screen has to scroll left and right to accommodate all of the buttons. My brother, a professional pianist, has not played the keyboard yet, but the rest of us found either too boring or too difficult to play.
Depending on what my brother thinks, I feel that it's too expensive of an addition to be worth it.
