This review is from: Haven: War of the Princes (Paperback)
I enjoy strong heroines, and the author manages to do very well with Kat. She is a sheltered teenager who finds a world quite different from anything she has ever been exposed to. Her choices aren't always wise, and she has, like most of us, a tendency to self-centeredness and self-absorption but by the end of the story, she has become very sure of the moral direction that is right.
There are a lot of stories where we have heroes or heroines with flaws, and that is good, if done well, and this one was done well, in my opinion. Too many manage to make the protagonists whiny, or wimpy, or passive and, lets face it, stupid. I want my protagonists to be better than me, stronger, smarter, more clever and a faster learner.
