Not very secure...,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Lewis N. Clark Tsa Cable Lock 2 Pack (Apparel)
Solid mechanism and construction
Flexible hasp is easy to thread through luggage zippers
Easy to set your own combination, no special tool required
Can easily be opened if you don't know the combination -- look just ##### ### ###### ######, #### ## the ###### ####### on the ######### on the inside, voila...
Don't get me wrong, I didn't think it was possible to get a "secure" luggage lock. I just didn't expect to be able to crack it myself, without damaging the lock, in about 10 seconds. I don't know if there's anything better than this, but I hope so.
Made in Taiwan.

Edited in response to comments suggesting I should not give the details of how to open this lock. I believe it added credibility to the review, and that the weakness of the product, not an Amazon review, would be responsible for any exploitation. Nevertheless, I can understand the alternative point of view, and have redacted the details.

Can you remove the details of how to open the lock from your comment? Doesnt it defeat the purpose of buying this lock?

I agree. It would have been enough to say it was insecure and easily opened.

The product's deficiencies as a lock defeat the purpose of buying it. That I have pointed it out is not the same thing as sharing responsibility for it. That said, I understand your point and have edited the post. Hopefully other customers will not miss out on useful product feedback as a result.

Thank you. I guess we should just be more responsible towards our fellow Amazonites who have already bought this lock. Why make it easier for a thief to look up the unlock loop hole? I do sincerely hope the manufacturer makes amends.

I have to disagree. I don't believe anyone with ill will will seek their how-to-crack this lock on an Amazon review... and if everyone that complains about you posting the instructions believe that you are the first with such revelation online is absurd. There are plenty of underground forums that probably publishes guides on how to pick a TSA lock. With that said, a luggage lock is not intended to render your luggage Fort Knox. Anyone who MUST get anything out of your luggage will simply rip a knife through the fabric and rip a large enough hole to get what he wants out of it (oh and my apologies for the walkthrough). An Amazon review is meant to educate potential buyers about what they are purchasing. Simple as that. With or without instructions, it doesn't make this lock any more/less secure. Thank you for your review.
