size was way too big,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bostonian Men's Ipswich Lace-Up (Shoes)
I bought this shoe, and it IS good looking and lightweight. Unfortunately the size is way off. I wear, and ordered, a 9 1/2 exra-wide. The shoe was way too big. It is marked 9 1/2, but when it didn't fit, I compared it to two different pairs of 10 1/2 shoes that I had laying around, and it was as long or even longer than those.
I will have to send them back at MY expense. I'm not going to re-order since these were so far off, and I don't want to continue experimenting at my expense.
I love Amazon, and by a lot from them, but for things like shoes I guess I'll have to try them on live.

Interesting. The Bostonian Dennison 9W was also way too big for my husband (we reordered 8W). I wonder whether their sizing in general is off.

I had a similar experience. They seem to run about a half size longer than what they say. The width, however, is about right. A hassle to return, but Amazon gave me free return shipping, so fairly painless although I'd rather have been able to keep them!

Same problem. I normally wear a 9 but had to go down to 8.5.

Actually, the sizing of these Bostonian shoes is spot on. Most shoes are actually sized bigger by manufacturers, so the vain among us feel better about their shoe sizes (men at least). Clothing is the opposite -- a size 32 waist pant usually measures at least a 33.
If you want to order these, go to a shoe store (or print a PDF shoe size tool), and actually measure your size. Order exactly the size measured and they will be perfect.
