Best Wii game ever,
I think this is the best Wii game EVER. I have been playing mariokart since the SNES and I was disapointed with the weak N64 version of the game. I have to say that they have created another masterpiece with this installment. My 2 year old son sits and cheers (literally) while I play. I would not normally promote playing video games instead of parenting, but he LOVES it. I have been playing the game for a year or more and I am still "unlocking" new features. This game is very, very replayable. It's worth every penny and more.
I give it five stars and two thumbs up.

The N64 version is FAR superior to MK Wii...sorry, but I would rather play a game that rewards SKILL more so than cheating and luck. The game cheats so badly to screw you out of races. Double Dash is also better than this, eventhough that game also rewards luck too much. You can only be in 1st a few seconds away from winning only to get pounded by every item imaginable to wind up in 6th or 7th. Can't powerslide on grass or dirt...also ridiculous. Any sort of wall you touch stops you dead in your tracks. This game probably is better for the younger generations rather than people like myself who grew up with the older versions of this game. Masterpiece? hardly.

The N64 version was the worst Mario Kart by far, it was boring and uninspiring. I even sold mine off on here a week ago lol. This game series has always been about "cheating" as you use item boxes to attack the other drivers...you can protect yourself from getting pounded by using the items wisely to your advantage. There's more strategy involved in the Wii version versus the N64 version. This time around the game is much harder, unlike Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart 64 where it wasn't even about skill, as it was far too easy to stay in first place. No real challenge there versus the newer mario karts. It really isn't ridiculous that you can't power slide on grass or dirt...and if the walls annoy you then learn to drive and stay on the track itself! It's not that difficult. Its definitely a masterpiece compared to Mario Kart 64.

Wow, this is the first time I've ever seen people hold Mario Kart 64 in such low regard. Every gamer I have ever known including myself believes MK64 to be the best of all of the console Mario Karts. It would probably seem a little more dated today, but the tracks were very good. MK: Double Dash and MK: Wii are also very good games though.

Well it's obvious you don't know a great game when you're playing it. Anyways, this Wii version of the game is geared more towards very young children. In the case of youngsters, this game is great and they will love it. As for those who have followed MK throughout the years, it's a low point. Bad controls and no options available (seriously Nintendo WTF!). Playing with the regular Wii control is just awful.

That's complete BS. The Nintendo 64 version was WAY better that this wii-crap. This wii game is just a stupid gimmick for the wii wheel.

It's okay to let your kid watch you play "E" rated Mario Kart. lol Now, letting him watch you play Grand Theft Auto or Mortal Kombat, and people my question your parenting skills. My daughter has watched me play Mario games since pretty much birth and has been playing Mario games since 3 years old. Today she is a straight A student, and quite the problem solver. Can't say for sure games improved her life skills, but they certainly didn't hurt.
