Stopped working after 35 days,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
And of course 30 days is the expiration of the returns policy for Amazon. There seems to be nothing you can do with a broken one; I guess you have to return it to the manufacturer.
For nearly $100, I expected a good build quality and good sound and so on. I shoudl have paid more attention to the other reviews here. It is average sound and very poor build quality. This unit just stopped charging any iphones or ipods after about 35 days and with only using it 4 or 5 times in that period. Used the correct inserts and so on but the connector is low quality and I think that what happens is it just breaks. This is why you can jiggle it and get "This device is not optimized for this iPhone" sometimes. In this particular instance, the thing will no longer even charge the phone.
As an example of build quality, even the springs that make the negative connection for the backup batteries are lame and you have to fiddle with the batteries to get it to make a connection. It is just really weak all around. Still, it is good for a laugh as it has a sticker on the back "Designed by iHome in the U.S.A", which means it was built in China of course; perhaps they should have let the Chinese design it too.
Google search will show you just how many others are having this issue, or other build quality issues - DO NOT BUY THIS.
I now have to start the excrutiatingly painful process of finding out how to return this to the manufacturer I guess. Given the nature of these failures, I do not think that 30 days is a reasonable return policy for this unit. It might also help if Amazon could put some instructions somewhere obvious about how to return such an item because it is defective after the 30 day return period is up.
