This review is from: Afrodisiac (Hardcover)
this is a cool graphic novel, about a pimp named afrodisiac. it's definitely tongue in cheek, and very sardonic. the setting is the 70's, and so the dialogue totally reflects that, as does some of the stories and situations (cameo by nixon). there really isn't any story per se, except to show how bad and cool the main character is. he's the baddest fighter, the baddest dresser, the baddest pool player, the baddest con man, and of course, the baddest ladies man, ever! right on blood!
i think the best thing about it is the artwork. it's very diverse, each story has a different style, so it's always interesting to look at. i think my favorite aspect are the various covers, which are styled after the 1970's marvel comic books, and they're amazing.
it's a great addition to one's graphic novel and comic book collection.
