I finally gave up!,

I tried, I really did. The use of present tense was very off-putting, but I might have gone on if it were possible to figure out who was speaking. I love to read historical fiction and looked forward to reading this book. But really, after 150 pages, I had had enough of trying to parse Mantel's sentences. What a disappointment!

Oh my, I don't think so! The praise is for the value of this book as historic fiction. That being said, I think this review is a good example of my comment in mine, that this book is not for everyone. That has nothing to do with someones reading style or intelligence, or relgious belief. It is what it is.
