5.0 out of 5 stars Extra battery a must, January 31, 2011

This review is from: Seidio Innocell 1750 mAh Slim Extended Life Battery for HTC EVO 4G (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I bought this Seidio battery to supplement the HTC battery that came with my G2. Note that this battery was designed for an Evo, but it does fit into my G2. The whole point of an extra battery and separate charger module is to be able to just swap batteries, instead of being at the mercy of the phone and remembering to plug it in overnight. I work from home and keep odd hours so sometimes I don't remember to plug it in, and then when I have to go out, the phone is on the charger and I'm incommunicado. Now I can even take the extra charged battery with me if I think I might run out. A good example of this is a round of golf, the GPS system is constantly bouncing off the satellite and can run out on the back 9. Just pop in the extra bat for the last couple of holes, and the phone is good for the rest of the day.

I bought this shortly after picking up my G2 in Nov 2010, so they did not have any G2 batteries available yet. But I had a fiend with an Evo and it looked like it might fit, so I gave it a try. It WILL fit with no modifications if you don't mind a slightly adjar cover. I figured out that it was the notch on the battery bottom that made it stick up, so I took a small file and widened the notch, now it fits perfectly. The HTC battery did not fit perfectly into the charging module, but a quick file job on the module fixed that. The bottom line: this worked perfectly, with NO modifications to the phone, so the warranty has NOT been voided. And the battery, being designed for the energy-hungry Evo, lasts a very long time, probably 25% more than the original HTC battery. No complaints here.
