1.0 out of 5 stars Not for Mono bloc's, December 16, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: PBL LIGHT STANDS 10 FOOT, PRO HEAVY DUTY SPRING CUSHIONED, ALL METAL LOCKING COLLARS, SET OF 2 WITH CARRY BAGS BLACK FINISH by PBL (Electronics)
Do NOT use these for mono bloc's ... great for speedlites & light weight modifiers ... but add any weight to them with larger modifiers or a mono bloc heads and they WILL break ...

James,

Sorry to hear about the issue with the monoblocks. I am not sure how much weight you had on your stand. Our stands are rated for 15lbs as the ad states. We have sold thousands of these 10ft light stands over the past 10 years with out any issues, if you kept the weight under 15lbs. If you put more than the rated weight you will have a failure. If for any reason you are not 100% satisfied with your stands you can return them for a full refund.

Wow! How heavy is your monblock head(s)?

I am looking at these stands for use with a 4.5 pound mono block style light (Einstein). Not all monblocks are the same. Did the wind get the unit you had up there? What happened exactly? Yeah, I wish mono blocks were lighter.. but I have had "regular" heads from (years of working with) Norman (2 pounds?) fall over many times. I trip over the cords if I am not careful. (yeah, that's stupid, I know...) People put monoblocks on smaller stands than this even though it gets dicier every time you pick a smaller stand for that, but sometimes the placement doesn't allow the wider stands to poke out from behind something out in the field of view of the lens.

Let us know what about the stand contributed to the failure.
