Less Jay and More Steve,

This review is from: Leading Apple With Steve Jobs: Management Lessons From a Controversial Genius (Hardcover)
I honestly tried to like this book but I couldn't.
- Inappropriate self-promotion - I found the self-promotion of the author aggravating. The author talks about all the great and wonderful awards, opportunities, decisions that he did but I'm not interested in that. Stop trying to impress me - I'm interested in your experiences with Steve, not you. No offense but the title does say "management lessons from a controversial genius".
- Lacks content. A lot of small paragraphs, ample spacing and large text takes up pages but leaves out substance.
- Filler material. 1/3 of a page was the honor code of another company. It added nothing to the context of the book. It felt like pure filler.
- Vignette structure - the book has small stories and paragraphs and none really flow. It's very random. Half a page on having a vision and knowing that a vision is important isn't that interesting or novel.
In short, this really brought nothing new to the table. The book is small and lacks much context for what you pay. It feels, and reads, like the author tried to make a book out of very little material. There are some behind the scene type stories but not much.
If you want to read this book, get it used and save your money.
