How could I have doubted this was horror? LOOK at that face.,
This review is from: Baby (Paperback)
A caveat: I will always read everything Robert Rodi writes, the day I learn of its existence, and usually in one sitting. It's possible this compulsion is why I lifted my no-horror ban to read his latest, Baby. (More accurately, I refused to acknowledge the cover's promise of horror because it was Rodi and by the time he delivered on that promise, I was, per usual, irretrievably ensnared.)
He's a gifted, insightful, moving, dryly funny memoirist (oh! Seven Seasons in Siena! oh! Agility Dog!), but it's in his fiction that his astonishing wit has scope to glint and shimmer like it does. This is where I become aggrieved that laugh-out-loud has lost its meaning: can I say that my lungs always feel like they've had a nice workout after I read Robert Rodi? AND I also feel like a better person? I will say so, and more. Do not delay. Buy everything this man has written, and today, but buy Baby first.
