This review is from: M.O. [Explicit] (MP3 Music)
I listened to Nelly's latest, M.O., on Spotify then bought it on Amazon. In all honesty, the collaborations convinced me to buy M.O.[Explicit]. Until then, I had not bought a Nelly album since Nellyville.
I have to wonder if the Nelly naysayers really listened to the quality of this project. His bars are even stronger.
In addition to liking most of the songs and collaborations, M.O.'s 16-track roller-coaster is Nelly's best production since Nellyville - although 5.0 had several good tracks.
I give M.O. an easy B+ or an 8 out of 10.
Although I like most of the album, my favorites on M.O. are: Get Like Me, Give U Dat, 100K, IDGAF, Mos Focused, and don't sleep on "Maryland Massachusetts". Although Drake-tinged, U Know U Want To is signature-melodic sing-songy Nelly. Although some songs have definite sexual overtones, there is no hard-core gangsta rap. Thank God!
This is a good album. Although the song with Florida Georgia Line (Walk Away) is a drag on the album - as is 'Hey Porshe', Nelly deserves to grow and take chances just like every other artist. I wonder if the negative reviews are just your standard Nelly haters who are critical of anything he does. I think Nelly's harsher critics should lay off the man. It's past time to give the man some respect.
Why should Nelly's sound stay stuck in the early 2000s? I think more music listeners AND reviewers should learn to grow their musical interests.
Music changes. People change.
