4.0 out of 5 stars Wireless Wonder, January 18, 2011

This review is from: Polk Audio F/X Wireless Surround Sound (Black) (Electronics)
I was looking for a surround speaker system for my new 72" Mitsubishi DLP. The TV came with a wireless Polk sub, so I purchased a pair of Polk Monitor 60's. The sound was good but I needed to add the rear surround. I could not find any customer reviews on the Polk F/X Wireless surround speaker, but I figured with my other Polk speakers, I would take the Plunge. I am extremely happy to say that right out of the box, I hooked up the transmitter to the receiver with the supplied wire, plugged the transmitter and the speaker in and I was enjoying great surround sound. I would recommend this speaker setup to anyone. The only problem I can see is if you have a computer or some other piece of equiptment that might give off some energy that will interfere with the wireless. I had a computer monitor that was plugged in near by that was giving me some popping noises. Moved the monitor, no more problems. Love the speakers, Thank's Polk..

If you are still having popping noise problems, please see my updated (rewritten) review. You may need a new transmitter box.

Jeff, I have pretty much the same issues you have described. Did Polk say they had problems with the transmitter box ? Please let me know. Thank's Bill ( Pennz )

They weren't explicit but if you read between the lines it sounds like they know there's a problem. Here's the first response I got from Polk:

"Jeff,
Sorry for the delay. There might be something wrong with that transmitter. Where and when was the unit purchased and did you have the serial #?"

...and here's the second after I replied with my info:

"Jeff,
We can send you a newer transmitter that is improved that should work better. I'll just need your shipping address. "

I got the replacement 2 days later via UPS ground. The difference between the old and new xmitters is like night and day - drop them a note!
