My new favorite casual shoe,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Skechers Performance Women's Go Walk 2 Slip-On Walking Shoe (Shoes)
I recently placed my third order for Sketcher's Go Walk 2 shoes with the mesh uppers. I wore my first pair for three weeks in SE Asia this fall and, although I packed some lightweight canvas Sebagos as well, the Sketchers were so great I never removed the other pair from my suitcase.
What's great? The soles are cushioned and work well on temple floors and climbing stairs at ancient ruins so I am sure they will be fabulous kicking around town. The mesh uppers are cool while protecting the feet from dust and dirt; I don't wear sandals as I don't like having dirty feet all day from street grime. And the stretch fabric moves with the foot and is forgiving in heat and humidity when the foot might swell. The design is sophisticated enough to wear in urban areas without marking one as an "American tourist in running shoes and chinos."
One needs to be careful that they buy the fabric they prefer since there are a bevy of shoes with different fabrics, all called Go Walk 2. The maker really should do something about that confusing marketing.

Would these work on uneven surfaces and trekking around all day? We're going to Greece and plan to do a lot on foot. Want a sturdy shoe that is also attractive.

Idaho Timber says:
They would be perfect. Just be cautious about which Go Walk 2 you buy to insure it is the fabric you want. The ones I like have the stretch mesh fabric. Some Go Walk 2 have heavier fabric.

What about the inside of these shoes - particularly arch support? If I do not have really good arch support, I have to wear inserts...

I wear mine all day long running around tending animals and gardens on my ranch where there isn't a level spot on the whole place and much of it is uneven dirt with rocks. I also wear them when I have to go to town to do the shopping errands. I'm always looking for decent arch support and these feels wonderful - even my Fasciitis doesn't act up when I wear them. I would absolutely take them on a walking vacation.

With or without socks. I am going to Italy July 15 to Aug 15 and like the look without socks. Just wondered if anyone has walked on hot cobble stone streets in these shoes with or without running socks. Thnank
