A great way to spend an hour,
This review is from: Seducing Cupid (Kindle Edition)
I'm not a fan of contemporary romance, which is a lie since I spent the majority of my teenage year reading it. I pretty much left it at the wayside when I discovered horror, fantasy and other, more gritty genres.
The thing is, I'm a sucker for a free book. I'm a regular at the library, and I like popping into the charity shops once a week to see what's there. So when I saw that Karen L. Syed was putting her story 'Seducing Cupid' up for free on kindle, I was dubious. Contemporary Romance is another form of fantasy. It's the only way you can get away with calling your characters Aphrodite (Cupid) and Russell (Rusty) and really get away with it.
I'm glad I downloaded it. 'Seducing Cupid' opens with Cupid hitting Rusty (A brilliant name that let me conjure up Brad Pitt in my head when I read it) with an arrow. It has a sucker on the end but the imagery is perfect. Rusty falls in love and decides to seduce Cupid.
It's a great little story and took me about an hour to read. What I like about these short stories is that they serve the reader into being introduced to a writer. It does it in a very inexpensive way. Now, after devouring this, I'm going to buy Karen's full length book. She sure knows how to tell a story.
