An honest and compelling read,
This review is from: The Girl Who Couldn't Say No: Memoir of a teenage mom (Kindle Edition)
I don't normally read books like this (I normally go for crime/thrillers) but I thought I would give it a go as the blurb seemed interesting. What a good decision that was.
This is a brilliantly written and unwaveringly honest book. From the moment I started reading I liked Tracy, I liked her humour, her honesty and her descriptions, particularly those of her "inner Tracy's".
You may think that a book about a teenage mum is going to be a sad and soppy story but this is far from that. Tracy writes with humour throughout and I think in part that is why I liked the book so much. I also really like the fact that this book isn't designed to act as a cautionary tale or as a lament on what could have been; it is just an honest account of a life.
I really really enjoyed this book, I started it yesterday and finished it today, and found even when I wasn't reading the book I was thinking about it. I would highly recommend this book; it's gripping yet still very human and real. I think that Tracy should be proud not only of the life she has led but also of her wonderful ability to share that story so eloquently.
