Outstanding Watch for the Money,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Victorinox Swiss Army Men's 241196 Alpnach Chrono Watch (Watch)
These are going fast - 3 left when I ordered, now down to 1 - another listing on Amazon has 5 but for a bit more money. It's a discontinued watch that's been blown out lately.
This particular movement, as some others have noted, is an ETA 251.262 - becoming rarer to find lately as Swatch now owns it and apparently non-Swatch companies (they own quite a few major brands) no longer have access to it. It has been used by many makers including TAG and Breitling and in several VSA models that will be very hard to find now. I have a TAG with it that has been very reliable for several years.
The main great thing about this movement is the BIG minutes counter rather than a subdial. There are few automatic watches that feature this and a few quartz watches based on the Soprod movement that was in TAG's Calibre S and now the VSA Chrono 1/100. The downside to those movements is that the entire face of the watch is used for the chronograph so that real time and measured time are not simultaneously visible.
This is a great deal on a really nice looking, well built watch and a bargain at this price. Good luck to the last lucky buyer!
As also noted, read the manual to learn how to zero the hands - there's a handy PDF version on-line too.
