This review is from: A Crimson Warning: A Lady Emily Mystery (Lady Emily Mysteries Book 6) (Kindle Edition)
Someone is smearing red paint on the front steps of the homes of society's elite, then exposing the darkest secrets of their inhabitants. As if that's not shocking enough, as lives are ruined by scandal, suicide, murder, and kidnappings soon send ripples of fear through Victorian England's upper class.
"A Crimson Warning" by Tasha Alexander is another good read in Alexander's Lady Emily series. As Lady Emily and her dashing husband Colin Hargreaves investigate who is behind the attacks on their friends and acquaintances -- and wonder if they might be the next targets -- they still find time for romance and comforting cups of tea.
Alexander does a decent job of describing life among the high society during the area and of providing a mystery plot that is filled with suspicious and interesting characters, who make it difficult to guess who is behind the mayhem. Lady Emily, Colin Hargreaves, Emily's friend Ivy, and other characters hold the reader's attention. The tension is nicely revved up as families wait not only to see if they will be the next victims of the crimson paint but also when the villain will reveal their secrets.
Highly recommended for readers who like historical romantic suspense.
A very pleasant read!
