5.0 out of 5 stars "Awesome Mix Vol. 1" is a very accurate title!, July 30, 2014
This review is from: Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol.1 (Audio CD)
This might be the best soundtrack ever. And never has a soundtrack been so essential to a movie. The "Awesome Mix Vol. 1" is a major part of the plot of the movie and the music it contains is an awesome mix (hence the name) of 1970's music.

This is a must own for fans of 70's music and fans of Marvel.

Very good movie, great music. My only gripe is that it seems that every other movie has Ain't No Mountain High Enough in it. I know it's not that often but it seems like it.

I haven't seen the move yet yet but as long as they aren't dancing around the kitchen while pretending to sing it, I'm fine with it being in there.

John Falck says:
Don't worry - very few kitchen scenes in the movie.

I know they HAD to include it in this album due to the credits scene, but shouldn't the Jackson 5 song be on Volume II if they are going to go by the movie??

Same with Ain't No Mountain High Enough...but, I'm not complaining!

And how nice that I didn't have to buy this - I just took all the songs from albums I already own, and included as bonus tracks two that were originally in the film, but wound up on the cutting room floor ("Magic" by Pilot and "Livin' Thing" by ELO) and two others which were considered for inclusion but then dropped in favor of "Moonage Daydream" ("Wichita Lineman" by Glen Campbell and "Mama Told Me (Not to Come" by Three Dog Night). (Those choices according to the Wikipedia article on the soundtrack).

Can't wait to see what I don't have to buy for Awesome Mix Vol. 2!!!

The 4 songs you mentioned are very good songs indeed! It's too bad they weren't in the movie.
