This review is from: Cooler Master Seidon 120XL - PC CPU Liquid Water Cooling System, Push-Pull Kit with 120mm Radiator and 2 Fans (Personal Computers)
Well, it would've been an easy installation if not for the radiator brackets/screws included, which are apparently *extremely* easy to strip. For the most part the hardware seemed pretty high-quality/well thought out and the actual installation process is simple/straightforward, but like a number of other people when it came to actually trying to mount the radiator/full unit stably my experience was an absolute nightmare; 6 out of the 8 brackets were totally unusable for me and the screws would just slide straight in and out of them like nothing - I've actually never seen anything quite like it. After hours of wrestling with the thing to try to secure it in my case I ultimately had to give up on it for the time being and fall back to my stock cooler.
Normally I really like CM, half of my PC has their name on it, and I really wanted to love this cooler, but so far it's been nothing but a huge headache for me. Can't say for sure if this is some kind of QA issue or I just got unlucky or what, but as I said I've seen more than a few people complaining about exactly the same problem so it's not an isolated incident either. If they included better (longer) screws, better machined brackets and/or rethought the radiator mounting hardware a little it'd be a huge improvement, but for now I'd recommend being extremely cautious when working with the radiator. Sorry I didn't see your question sooner, but in case anyone else is wondering the same, I did return this Seidon 120XL for a refund, but ended up going with another Cooler Master product via Amazon: the Hyper 212 EVO, which I personally found much easier to install, and so far ~6 months later is still working great! As I said before the quality/performance of CM's products is generally very high in my experience and I've found their customer service to be outstanding overall, so I certainly didn't intend to discourage anybody from trying out their products as a whole.
As far as the Seidon, all I can really say is YMMV. Unfortunately I can't update my earlier review one way or the other because I chose not to try replacing it as such and went with the Hyper 212 Evo instead; I only wanted people to be aware that issues with the machining/hardware are possible and to take stock of that when choosing between this model and something else like the Hyper 212. Thanks!
