Neat and tidy, and my mouth has never felt so clean!,
This review is from: Waterpik Ultra Water Flosser (Health and Beauty)
For a long time, I had been hesitant to add a Waterpik to my daily regimen for two reasons:
1. I am a neat freak, and I don't like clutter on my bathroom counter
2. I feared a watery mess
When I first removed this from the box, my fears were not at all quelled. In fact, I was disheartened upon finding many tiny loose attachments. I was further dismayed at what seemed to be an appliance with three ill-fitting parts.
When I finally assembled and placed the unit on my counter, I felt much better. It is a neat, compact unit, and the cord is not too long that it gets in the way. The unit can easily be lifted from the base when cleaning the counter. The nozzle fits nicely into its holster. The attachments are all hidden within a clamshell that sits on top of the unit. This is a good thing, because most people would ever use only two or three of the included attachments. Incidentally, if I have a complaint, it is that there are not enough slots within the clamshell to fit all of the attachments, although all can fit inside if one sits loosely on top of the others and one is being used. (Any reasonable person would keep at least one attachment locked into the nozzle at all times.)
The first time I used it, I had a bit of a mess, but I quickly learned that the water-flow could be easily stopped temporarily by depressing a button on the nozzle. The water pressure can also be adjusted via a dial on the unit itself, so, for example, you can use the highest setting for flossing and a lower setting for cleaning the tongue.
So, how well does it work? Honestly, my mouth feels amazing. I have not eliminated regular flossing from my regimen, but this gets my mouth cleaner than brushing and flossing alone. It removes food particles, plaque, and even toothpaste residue from between my teeth and along the gumline, leaving my mouth feeling clean and fresh. It is really surprising how much is missed by simple brushing, flossing and rinsing.
In conclusion, this is a neat and compact little unit that has become an important part of my oral care regimen. It was well worth the money, and it is well worth the few extra minutes every day.
