5.0 out of 5 stars Price Gouging -- EDIT: The vendor lowered their price., November 10, 2012
By
This review is from: Raspberry Pi Model B 756-8308 Motherboard (RASPBRRYPCBA512) (Personal Computers)
The makers of the Raspberry PI is a non-profit organization and their purpose is to provide affordable computers. They sell this model for 35 dollars and anyone marking this product up for resell should be ashamed.

***** EDIT *****

The Vendor has lowered their price so please refrain from commenting about how it's not a bad deal because it's a lot more reasonable now.

Where can this be purchased for $35? Family member wants it for Christmas and I've never even heard of the thing!

Just goggle allied electronics for the usa. But realise that this item is on a major backorder right now from the one company that can sell in usa.

Newark Electronics also sells it in the US. Not sure of the backlog, but I purchased 2 from them a while back.

Newark is selling the 512MB model for $35 USD. I purchased a 256MB model direct from the UK from RS for £21.60, not £35.

The vendor is "over-charching", but if it's back-ordered from the manufacturer for 5 weeks right now, then you're paying for the convenience of getting one NOW. Not a bad deal.

Buying in bulk for resell is likely a large reason why their is such a back-order, so please do not encourage these sellers and soon they will go away.

Last time I checked around everywhere there wasn't a single Raspberry Pi available anywhere but here on Amazon... anywhere, I even checked several sources in the UK. In that case, if you really need one then a few extra dollars to protect a supply is no problem. This came out in February (I think) and was immediately unavailable (for the most part) due to order backlogs, many people offer deals better than this, but the fact is that they don't (as of my last check about a week ago from today, 11/25) have any in stock.

For Ryan... If you don't like it then don't buy from this source, but the fact is that this seller seems to be keeping some in stock, which makes it great for anyone who really wants or needs one of these boards at a reliable time estimate, no one else is providing that right now.
