1.0 out of 5 stars These wire shelves are IMPOSSIBLE to clean, December 21, 2010
This review is from: ClosetMaid 4717 SuperSlide Wire Shelf, 72 by 12-Inch, White (Kitchen)
I moved into a condo where the closets are furnished with ClosetMaid wire shelving. They were filthy. I dismounted them, which is not easy, and put them into the bath tub where I scrubbed them. Scrubbing each wire is very time consuming. When they were finally white and clean, I let them air dry. Even though they are definitely clean, they are still sticky. Searching on the web, this is apparently a well-known problem with wire shelves. Friends advised me to throw them out and buy new shelves.

This is an inappropriate review, on a product which had been treated in ways the tenant knew nothing about.. and not a purchase from Amazon. How do you even know if you have the brand advertised here?!

I have used this system many times and have never had a problem with use and cleaning.

Perhaps you did not purchase the correct type of cleaner for the problem you had. Perhaps the person who used them before you put solutions in contact with the wire not recommended by the manufacturer. How could you possibly rate this here when you have no knowledge of its history?

Complain to the landlord/or previous occupant, but it is unfair of you to try to influence the product sale on Amazon!

You should not post a bad review of this product because the previous tenants left your closet dirty. On top of that, impossible is a strong word. If some cleaners can get deep set stains out of white material, I'm sure there is something to get the sticky off of plastic coated wire.
